The Royal University of Bhutan
The Royal University of Bhutan is the only national University present in the country. It was founded on June 2nd 2003. The University was established to cater to the needs of Tertiary Education in Bhutan and offer various Higher Education Programs to the aspiring students. RUB (The Royal University of Bhutan) aspires to build a knowledge-based society, which can influence public policy, social behavior and inculcate empirical research and informed opinions in Bhutan.
Further, RUB holds twofold objectives, which is stated in the royal charter. According to it, the University aims to develop and provide various programmes of study at Tertiary Education level, of relevance and good quality that will help to fulfill the needs of Bhutan for educated and skilled population. The second object is to promote and conduct research to contribute in the creation of knowledge in an international context and to transfer the knowledge of relevance to the country. The Royal University of Bhutan is a decentralized University, constituting eleven Colleges under it.

Admissions in The Royal University of Bhutan
Students who qualify with the basic eligibility of admission can apply to pursue Higher Education in The Royal University of Bhutan. The basic eligibility criterion is similar for all colleges, which is, successful completion of 12th standard from a school in Bhutan or any other country.
Admission to each program is based on merit and the online admission form is available to students right after the declaration of 12th standard results. Usually there are two cycles of admissions in the months of February and September. Admissions in February are done for all students, while it is open only for self financed students in the month of September. The admission process for all students starts in the first or second weak of February and ends by the last weak of February.
